Article #4 Advice

Hello! Today we will be answering a question from one of our readers, he asks "After readin' the art-cle bout ol' Jim runnin' away, I'a been fixin' to try it ma-self. Y'all think tis werth ut?" Well, are you willing to take the risk? That was my initial response to the question. The reason Jim ran away is because he had been considered to be sold, and this would have broken up the family. Are  you with your family? Do you think running away would be the best idea? I think, that for you, it would be smartest to stay if you are with family and nobody has considered to sell you. In a situation like this, the cons outweigh the pros, and if you get caught then that may be the end of you. If you are asking for my advice, I would tell you to stay where you are. People are always looking out for a runaway black to turn him in for money. It would be safer to just stay where you are and hope for the best.

Article #3 Opinion Piece

This article will be about my opinion of Jim and Huck's partnership. There are some good things about this and there are some bad things about this, in my opinion.

It is good for Huck and Jim to have each other, they can help each other and share knowledge. Sometimes when they are feeling bad they realize that they still have a good friend right by their side. Both Huck and Jim benefit from each other and have soft spots for each other.

There is also the danger of Jim getting caught, and Huck knows that they are after him. On page 34 in chapter 6 Huck says, "I knowed dey was arter you. I see um go by heah; watched um thoo de bushes." If Jim gets caught, then they will also find out about Huck, and neither of them want that to happen. It is also viewed as crazy for a black man and a white boy to be working together in this time, where slavery is so abundant and it is still legal. People could get really mad for seeing that and things would not have turned out good.

In my opinion, this was a smart move for them to work together, because they help each other a lot and I am glad I got to read about them,

Article #2 Huck's Escape

In article number two we will go over Huck's escape. Huck was having a pretty good time with himself and his friend, Tom Sawyer. He feared the day that his Pap would return, and the day finally came. Pap was abusive and an alcoholic. Huck does not like this and one day he finds a canoe, he fakes his death and off he goes, down the Mississipi River. Huck meets Jim on his escape and the two partner up.

Huck and Jim make a good partnership and go through many things together. The two are even split up more than once along the journey, but they find a way back to each other. Huck debates on turning Jim in but his heart sets into the right place when they realize that Huck is Jim's only true friend. One of the biggest problems that Jim and Huck face is the Duke and the Dauphin, two men that are professionals at conning people out of their money. Huck almost gets away from these two men once after they run away, but they catch back up to him. He is ashamed to be with these people and even though they are very bad, dealing with them is all part of Huck's great escape and adventure.

Article #1 The River

In article number one of our newspaper, we will be reviewing the Mississippi River.
The Mississippi River is arguably the most important piece of the story and it starts everything. This is where Huck found his canoe, and the canoe was his chance to finally escape his Pap and start his own life, living the way that he wants to live. Once Huck sets off, they even use the Mississippi to try to locate his body, which he had faked a death for, hoping they wouldn't be searching for him for too long, assuming he was dead.

Huck makes his first stop at Jackson Island, and there he meets up with his buddy Jim, and the river could have been credited for helping them meet up. The river offers many great things for Huck and Jim. They can get fish out of it and they also get some items that float down the river. The river is a very direct route of transportation and it is a lot safer than going by foot. It is also very hard to get lost on a river that is flowing in one direction .

The river was also described as relaxing, on page 89 in chapter 19 it states "We would watch the lonesomeness of the river, and kind of lazy along, and by-and-by lazy off to sleep. In my opinion the river is the key and path to both of their freedoms. The river is a vital part of this story, and that is a fact.
